Yelena Isinbayeva broke her own world indoor pole vault record on Thursday, clearing 5 meters 1 centimeter at the XL Galan meet in Stockholm.

The Russian cleared the height, a single centimeter over the previous mark she set in Donetsk, Ukraine, in 2009, at the second attempt to win the competition. Britain's Holly Bleasdale came second, with Yarisley Silva of Cuba in third as both cleared 4.72, according to the event's website.

Isinbayeva, 29, won gold at both the 2004 and 2008 Olympic Games, as well as three world titles. She has recorded only rare successes over the last two years, winning one Diamond League meeting, but finishing outside the medals at the 2010 and 2011 world championships.

She has the outdoor record of 5.06 meters, set in 2009.
