Three miners were trapped underground after rock collapsed in an iron more mine in the Altai Territory in south Siberia, the regional emergencies center reported on Sunday.
The rock collapsed at the Poteryayevsky mine in the town of Rubtsovsk early on Sunday at a depth of about 100 meters.
“Three people were trapped underground. Communication with the miners is stable and they have access to oxygen,” the emergencies center said, adding that the rock collapse did not cause any fire inside the mine.
The work of the mine has been suspended and 96 miners have been evacuated to the surface. Efforts are underway to clear the rubble and rescue the miners, the emergencies center said.
