Some 2,000 cars participated in a rally in downtown Moscow on Saturday night in support of Russian presidential candidate Vladimir Putin, a spokesman for the Moscow police said on Sunday.
“Some 2,000 cars participated in the event. No accidents were reported,” the spokesman said.
Organizers of the rally, named “aVVto Party”, said, however, that up to 5,000 cars were participating in the event, which ended shortly before midnight.
A remix of Putin's vocals of the popular jazz song Blueberry Hill was the symbol of the rally and CDs with the song were distributed among rally participants.
Putin sang Blueberry Hill in English with jazz performers during a charity event for children diagnosed with cancer in St. Petersburg in December 2010. That concert then sparked a scandal when children hospitals complained that they had not received any money from the high-profile event.
