The head of Russia's election commission said that so far no proof has been found that voters were bused around to various polling stations to repeatedly vote for the ruling United Russia party in December elections.

Investigations into instances of that practice and other ballot-stuffing operations, known as "the carousel," have not turned up any proof, Central Election Commission Chairman Vladimir Churov said on Russkaya Sluzhba Novostei radio.

“There have been no proven cases of 'the carousel' in Russia,” said Churov, who has faced calls to resign from demonstrators protesting alleged vote fraud in the December 4 elections.

In addition, Churov said he did not care whether the “against all” option was restored to ballots, after being removed in 2006.

“I don’t care whether there is a line 'against all' or not but I’d like to remind you that a vote 'against all' is distributed proportionally among the winners,” he said.
