Russian Venture Company (RVC), a key tool for building Russia's own national innovation system, opened an office on Monday in Boston, a top U.S. technology hub, to attract foreign investment in Russian high-tech projects, RVC said.

The goals of the office will include investment in local start-up businesses wanting to conduct research and development in Russia and provision of favorable terms for Russian tech firms operating in Boston, office head Axel Tillmann was quoted in RVC's statement as saying.

"The Boston office will help ... to attract international smart money, purchase foreign technological assets for the benefit of the Russian economy as well as to integrate Russian innovation products in global technological chains and support (their) export," RVC said.

It is the second U.S. office for RVC, which opened a subsidiary in Silicon Valley in spring 2011.
