World famous music stars from the U.S. and Europe accompanied by Russian popular artists will perform at the international music festival Red Rocks ( http://redrocks.ru/ ) that will take place for the second time at the Krasnaya Polyana ski resort located in Sochi at altitude of 1500 meters above sea level, said the director of Machete Records label who is organizing the festival.
The headliner of this year's Red Rocks festival is American pop and glam rock band Scissor Sisters. The band formed in New York in 2001 achieved worldwide fame after releasing their debut album Scissor Sisters which became an international success hitting number 1 in the UK Album Chart and bringing the band 3 BRIT Awards in 2005. So far the band has released three albums containing a number of chart-topping singles. Scissor Sisters is currently working on their fourth album.
The audience will also see the British rock band White Lies performing on the stage built in the Mountain Carousel sports and holiday complex. A fine example of pure British freethinking in music, White Lies has been creating thoughtful well-crafted alternative rock since 2007 and has already earned a reputation as music trend setters.
The sound of rock at the festival will be diluted by Norwegian electronic music duo Royksopp. Since their 1998 debut, the duo has gained critical acclaim and popular success around the world. Royksopp has been nominated for one Grammy Award and its singles often become a tasty morsel for TV commercials.
Red Rocks, a festival sponsored by Sberbank of Russia, took place for the first time in Sochi in March 2011. It featured British rock band The Kills and American electronic music duo The Crystal Method as headliners.
In 2012, Red Rocks festival aquired the status of Sochi 2014 Cultural Olympiad participant.
