Team Russia won two more medals – silver and bronze - at the European Figure Skating Championship in Britain’s Sheffield on Friday night.

Russia’s Ekaterina Bobrova and Dmitri Soloviev, who grabbed a surprising lead after the short dance, scored a total of 160.23 points and ultimately lost less than four points to the event’s favorites Nathalie Pechalat and Fabian Bourzat of France.

Elena Ilinykh and Nikita Katsalapov, who were seventh after the short program, ultimately came in third by scoring a total of 153.12 points.

Ekaterina Riazanova and Ilia Tkachenko, ranked third after the short dance, finally came in fifth with a final result of 152.22 points.

With competition in two disciplines already over, Russians claimed five out of six medals in Sheffield. On Thursday night Russian pairs grabbed all medals in pairs skating.

The European Championships finishes tomorrow with free programs in men and women skating. Russia’s Artur Gachinski and veteran Evgeni Plushenko finished head to head in men’s short program and currently sit first and second place, respectively.

In women’s skating, Ksenia Makarova did her best to maintain Russia’s dominance in Sheffield and after the short program she comes third with 57.55 points.
