Uliana Kaysheva brought Russia its first gold at the 2012 Youth Winter Olympic Games in Austria’s Innsbruck after finishing first on Monday in women’s biathlon 7.5 km pursuit.

The Russian was 27.9 seconds faster to finish the distance than her closest contender Franziska Preuss of Germany. The bronze went to Galina Vishnevskaya from Kazakhstan.

This is the second medal for Kaysheva at the Olympics after she won bronze on Sunday in biathlon sprint.
