Three people died as a car collided head-on with a truck in the Moscow Region, traffic police told RIA Novosti.
The accident occurred on the 48th km of the Moscow-Simferopol highway.
“Due to unknown reasons, a Nissan Note swerved into the oncoming lane and collided with a Scania trailer truck,” a police spokesman said.
The Nissan Note’s driver and two passengers died.
In 2010, Russia saw about 200,000 car accidents, in which over 26,000 people were killed and more than 250,000 were injured. According to traffic police, 85 percent of the accidents happened because drivers violated traffic regulations.
