Roger Federer has recovered from a back injury that forced his withdrawal from the Doha Open earlier this month, and is fully fit for the Australian Open, he said on Friday.

The 30-year-old suffered back spasms during his second-round win over Slovenia's Grega Zemlja, and struggled past Italian Andrea Seppi before pulling out of the Qatar event.

"My back's better. I had a bit of a back issue but I'm perfectly fine now," Federer said at a conference in Innsbruck, Austria, by videolink from Melbourne, Australia.

Federer, the world No. 3, is a four-time champion at the Australian Open, which starts next week.
