Russian President Dmitry Medvedev arrived in Brussels on Wednesday to attend a Russia-EU summit.

Russian President Dmitry Medvedev arrived in Brussels on Wednesday to attend a Russia-EU summit.

The summit, which begins on Thursday, is expected to approve an array of bilateral steps toward mutual visa-free travel and address the current difficulties in the EU economy.

The meeting will open on Thursday morning with a working session that will be followed by a working breakfast.

“A tentative agenda has been agreed,” presidential aide Sergei Prikhodko said.

“The following subjects are the most important: the global economy and global governance, Russia-European relations, as well as international and regional issues.”

The Russian representatives do not expect potentially divisive subjects such as European missile defense or the recent parliamentary elections in Russia to be addressed at the summit.
