WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange was granted on Monday the right to appeal his extradition from Britain to Sweden at the Supreme Court.

WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange was granted on Monday the right to appeal his extradition from Britain to Sweden at the Supreme Court.

British judges said at a hearing that the Court of Appeal will not force the Supreme Court to look at the case, but will ask for it to be considered.

Swedish authorities want to question Assange over sexual assault allegations made by two former female WikiLeaks volunteers during a visit to the country last year.

He dismissed the allegations as politically motivated, suggesting that he could be transferred from Sweden to the US.

The ruling may keep Assange, who has been under house arrest in the UK for one year, in the country for another year.

He now has 14 days to petition the Supreme Court to examine his case.
