Medvedev to discuss world’s financial system with IMF chief

Russian President Dmitry Medvedev will discuss reforms of the world’s financial system with Christine Lagarde, managing director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), who is on her visit to Russia, a Kremlin source said on Sunday.

Russian President Dmitry Medvedev will discuss reforms of the world’s financial system with Christine Lagarde, managing director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), who is on her visit to Russia, a Kremlin source said on Sunday.

Among the topics that were put on the agenda of the talks are “the current issues of the modern global economy and finance” as well as the “ant-crisis measures, taken by the international community” and “the further steps to reform the world’s financial system,” the source said.

Lagarde started her three-day visit to Russia on Sunday.

Apart from the meeting with Medvedev, the IMF head will hold talks with representatives of the Russian Finance Ministry and Central BankRussia, like other member countries of BRICS, which unites Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa, speaks for reforming the IMF, in particular its management bodies, and says members’ quotas should be redistributed by 2014

Russia has been a member of the IMF since 1992.
