About 40 gay parade opponents were detained during an authorized gay rally on Saturday in downtown Moscow, the city's police said.

The police said that among the detainees there were the members of a nationalist organization, who threw tomatoes at the participants of the rally and prepared a paintball gun.

"About 40 people were arrested. Tomatoes and paintball gun were seized from them," the police said.
