On Moscow Day, a building of Moscow State University (MSU) was transformed into an enormous 25,000-square-meter 4D outdoor screen. A grand light show was presented to Muscovites who gathered at Vorobyovy Gory (Sparrow Hills) on September 4.
On Moscow Day, a building of Moscow State University (MSU) was transformed into an enormous 25,000-square-meter 4D outdoor screen. A grand light show was presented to Muscovites who gathered at Vorobyovy Gory (Sparrow Hills) on September 4.
During the show, the MSU building vanished, was rebuilt anew, then transformed into a giant aquarium, a space center, and world landmarks such as the Eiffel Tower and the Big Ben.
The epic show involved more than 5,000 pyrotechnic units and about 50,000 balloons.
Two hundred trucks brought the equipment from several different countries. The length of the rays of light in the show totaled 40 kilometers.
As part of the show, the world famous climber, Alain Robert, known as the “Spider Man,” climbed the university building. At its central part, the height of the MSU main building is 239.5 meters. The Spider Man scaled all the way up to the famous coat of arms of the USSR on the building's façade.
The show was organized by the team of David Atkins, who became world-renowned for putting together the opening ceremonies of the Sydney and the Vancouver Olympics. Dozens of light projectors and projection units were brought to Moscow for the 4D show.
The festival concluded with a grand fireworks show above MSU.
It's possible that the show may enter the Guinness Book of World Records. The organizers intent to register the event as the biggest projection area in history, at 25,500 square meters.
The organizers have not provided an exact figure as to the number of people who attended the show. All we know is that all of the 43,000 printed flyers were distributed.
