Estonia is holding presidential elections on Monday.

Incumbent Toomas Hendrik Ilves, 57, backed by 75 votes in the country's 101-seat parliament, and European Parliament member Indrek Tarand are running for president.

Ilves that Estonian political scientists say is likely to win is supported by the ruling coalition: Prime Minister Andrus Ansip's Reform Party, IRL and the opposition Social Democratic Party, whereas Tarand is supported by the opposition Center Party, the second largest in parliament.

Estonia's president is elected for five years. In order to be re-elected, Ilves has to win a two-thirds majority (68 votes) in a secret ballot in parliament or a simple majority in an electoral college comprising parliament deputies and local council representatives.
