Violence began in the British capital's northern district of Tottenham on Saturday over the fatal shooting of a young man by police. On Sunday and Monday, it spread to other areas in London and Birmingham. Thousands of extra police officers flooded the streets of London on Wednesday to deter rioters, after Prime Minister David Cameron warned the government would take any necessary action to restore order and confidence to Britain's streets.
