Russia:

* The death toll from the sinking of a pleasure boat in the Moscow River after its collision with a cargo barge has risen to nine people, Russia's Investigative Committee said

* Moscow police have arrested up to 40 participants of an unsanctioned rally, when they attempted to march on Tverskaya street

* Firefighters have extinguished 14 wildfires in the Russian Far East in the past twenty-four hours, but are still battling 20 forest fires in the area, the regional forestry department said

* Flights to and from Mineralniye Vody airport in south Russia have been cancelled after construction workers found a World War II bomb close to the takeoff and landing strip, the airport's press office reported

 

World:

* A first International Congress of the Japan's Congress Against Atomic and Hydrogen Bombs was first held in the city Fukushima, urging also an end to nuclear energy

*At least six people were killed and another 12 wounded in a suicide bomber attack in the southern Afghan province of Helmand, the press secretary of the local governor said

* The death toll from two mine accidents in eastern Ukraine has risen to 36 people, the Ukrainian Emergencies Ministry reported
