Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin will launch the 7th and 8th power units of the Surgut-2 electricity plant in Siberia and the 12th unit at the Middle Urals power station via a video link on Monday, the government's press office reported on Sunday.
The power units were built as part of the efforts by German energy group E.On and Italy's Enel to fulfill their obligations for the introduction of new power capacities in Russia. Each of the three power units has a capacity of 400 MW.
The power units were built using advanced technologies and have efficiency output of 56-58 percent, which is by a third higher than the average figure in the Russian power sector.
The new power units will help cut emissions into the atmosphere.
