The 33rd mission of Atlantis and the last shuttle mission in history was extended by one day, until July 21, NASA said on its website.

"Capcom Megan McArthur just notified Atlantis Commander Chris Ferguson that the Mission Management Team has extended STS-135 by one day," NASA said.

The last ever shuttle launch was performed on Friday as Atlantis lifted off from Florida's Kennedy Space Center. Atlantis' mission to the International Space Station (ISS) is the final flight of the 30-year Space Shuttle Program.

Atlantis carried the Raffaello multipurpose logistics module containing a year's worth of supplies and spare parts for the orbital station and its crew.
