The Shanghai Cooperation Organization held its 10th anniversary summit in Astana on June 14-15. Over the past decade, the organization has succeeded in building a number of institutional frameworks and mechanisms, addressing key problems such as terrorism and drug trafficking, as well forging closer economic and security links between its members. The role of China in the SCO has been subject of debate, with some asserting that the country seeks to dominate the organization.
