Two suspects in a U.S. computer fraud case involving the sale of fake anti-virus software have been arrested in Latvia, police in the Baltic country said on Thursday.

Two suspects in a U.S. computer fraud case involving the sale of fake anti-virus software have been arrested in Latvia, police in the Baltic country said on Thursday.

Peteris Sahurovs, 22, and Marina Maslobojeva, 23, were arrested on Tuesday in Latvian city of Rezekne, and will face wire fraud and computer fraud charges in the U.S. The scam cost victims more than $74 million in losses.

A fake security alert, Scareware, appeared on a user's computer saying "Warning! There is a virus on your computer...Remove now," and asked to scan and clean-up. However, when the user clicked "Remove now," special programs began to collect private and financial data from the computer.

Some of the programs asked users to purchase anti-virus software.
