Russia’s upper house of parliament, the Federation Council, has confirmed Yury Chaika for the post of Prosecutor General, following his nomination by President Dmitry Medvedev.
Chaika has held the post since 2006 and was previously justice minister.
According to the Russian Constitution, the Prosecutor General is approved and dismissed by the Federation Council.
