The U.S.-Russian presidential commission said bilateral military cooperation had improved lately as part of the "reset" in relations between the two countries.

The U.S.-Russian presidential commission said on Thursday that bilateral military cooperation had improved lately as part of the "reset" in relations between the two countries.

"The ties between our armed forces continue to strengthen," a joint report by a working group on military cooperation within the framework of the commission said.

The report cited joint U.S.-Russia anti-terrorism drills codenamed Vigilant Eagle last year as a good example of this trend.

"In 2011, we are planning 67 joint events in the military sphere, including exercises and consultations on defense policies," the report said.

Russia and the United States have also agreed to strengthen their cooperation in fighting global terrorism.

The United States on Thursday announced that it had added the Caucasus Emirate, which is headed by Doku Umarov, to its official list of terrorist groups and offered a reward of up to $5 million for information that could lead to Umarov's arrest.
