Moscow will host the 2011 Modern Pentathlon World Cup, the world event's governing body UIPM said on Friday.
The championship was to be held in Cairo September 6-14, but Egyptian military leaders said political uncertainty following the ouster last month of authoritarian leader Hosni Mubarak meant it could not go ahead as initially planned.
UIPM Klaus Schormann said he would agree to the World Cup's transfer to Moscow if it would feature the newly introduced laser guns.
The guns will replace air pistols in the combined run-and-shoot finale to the pentathlon.
Russia on Thursday was chosen to host the 2011 Figure Skating World Championship after Tokyo dropped out following a massive earthquake and tsunami on March 11.
