NASA announced on Tuesday that an historic fly-around photo session of the International Space Station will not go ahead.

NASA announced on Tuesday that an historic fly-around photo session of the International Space Station will not go ahead.

The photo-shoot, which was proposed two weeks ago, would have provided unique images of the nearly-completed station.

"This morning, our Russian colleagues, after doing their own independent review processes ... have determined that they are not in position to recommend doing the fly about," NASA representative Kenneth Todd said on Tuesday.

The photo-shoot was meant to be performed from Russia's Soyuz TMA-01M spacecraft, which would have been undocked from the space station to achieve a full view of the construction.

But Russia said it did not have time to review all the risks posed by flying the spaceship, which is a new model in its maiden flight, around the station.

Russia's Progress, the United States' Discovery, Europe's ATV, and Japan's HTV-1 are all also currently docked to the station.
