Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov believes Terek Grozny require the addition of at least two more players ahead of the new season, his press service said on Tuesday.
Kadyrov, who is also the president of Terek, made no mention however of a reported attempt to coax Brazilian star Ronaldo out of retirement with a multi-million-dollar deal.
“We need a good defender and forward. We’ll have a look and see who else we can invite to join the team,” Kadyrov told the republic’s sports minister.
Terek recently stunned the football world by announcing that Dutch legend Ruud Gullit would manage the club, which finished in the bottom half of the table last year.
Ronaldo, along with other members of Brazil’s 2002 World Cup-winning side, is expected to take part in an exhibition match in Grozny on March 8. The game will feature Kadyrov as captain of the opposition team.
