At least 14 people were injured during protests in Sulaimaniya, a city in Iraq's autonomous Kurdish region, CNN said citing a local health official.

The channel reported, citing an eyewitness, that police used water cannons and fired weapons over the heads of protestors on Saturday.

Raytok Hama Salih, the provincial health chief, said patients suffered mostly slight injuries.

The clash occurred when the crowd again tried to seize the local headquarters of the ruling Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP).

The unrest was sparked by Thursday's crackdown on demonstrators in Sulaimaniya. At least one person was killed and about 60 injured when police opened fire at protestors, who attacked the local office of KDP.

A peaceful march was also held in Iraq's capital Baghdad, where women and children rallied demanding more support to widows and orphans.

Inspired by the recent revolutions in Tunisia and Egypt, protests and violence continue across the Arab world, ranging from riot police storming a square in Bahrain to clashes between security forces and protesters in Libya and Yemeni police opening fire on a crowd of demonstrators.
