Indian Foreign Minister SM Krishna made an embarrassing mix-up at a UN Security Council meeting when he accidentally read out a speech of his Portuguese counterpart, local media have reported.
At the council's session on Friday Krishna, who took the floor after Portuguese Foreign Minister Luis Amado, read out several pages of the speech of his counterpart instead of his own.
An Indian official realized that Krishna was delivering the wrong speech as the minister started expressing satisfaction that two Portuguese-speaking nations, Portugal and Brazil, were represented at the council.
The Indian foreign minister later said there was 'nothing wrong' with the speech mix-up adding that there were too many papers in front of him and he took the wrong one. "Unfortunately, it happened ...," he was quoted by the Times of India newspaper.
