Russian aluminum giant RusAl announced on Tuesday seven candidates for nomination to the Board of Directors of the Norilsk Nickel mining company ahead of an extraordinary general meeting on March 11.

Russian aluminum giant RusAl announced on Tuesday seven candidates for nomination to the Board of Directors of the Norilsk Nickel mining company ahead of an extraordinary general meeting on March 11.

The aluminum producer, controlled by billionaire Oleg Deripraska, has been embroiled in a dispute over the mining company with Interros, an investment arm of billionaire Vladimir Potanin, since Norilsk's annual general meeting in June.

Although both firms own 25% stakes in Norilsk, RusAl lost one board seat to Interros and claims the investment firm has gained too much control over the company.

RusAl requested the extraordinary general meeting to elect a new board in December.

Following the request, Norilsk offered to buy RusAl's stake in the company for $12 billion, but RusAl rejected the idea.
