A 70-year old Russian woman has been charged with ordering the killing of a police officer, 32, in a crime of passion, a special investigator said on Tuesday.
The pensioner from the northwestern city of Murmansk, whose name has not been disclosed, lived next door to the police officer and the two reportedly had an intimate relationship.
However, after the young man got married, their relationship soured and the pensioner decided to take revenge.
She hired a hit man, paying him 30,000 rubles ($1,000) to do the job. Her plans became known to police who placed her under surveillance and set up a sting operation.
The pensioner is facing up to 15 years in prison if convicted.
