Russia does not plan to impose any special taxes in the financial sector, Russian President Dmitry Medvedev said on Wednesday at the annual World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.

"We are not going to restrict financial activity additionally, to the contrary, we want to expand maximally possibilities for financial institutions," Medvedev said adding that Russia plans to turn Moscow into a world financial sector.

Medvedev said that Russia expects to receive substantial benefits from the development of the Russian financial sector.

Medvedev said that from January 1, 2011, Russia abolished a tax on earnings from the sale of security papers by an implementation of long-term investment. "Here our position differs from the position of our partners in the G20."
