Russian authorities on Tuesday gave controversial information on the number of people injured in a deadly blast in Moscow's largest airport: the emergencies ministry said 180 people were injured, while the health minister put the number at 128.

An explosive device was detonated by a suicide bomber as passengers arrived at Domodedovo airport's international arrivals gate at 4:40 p.m. (13:40 GMT) on Monday, killing 31 people instantly. The death toll later rose to 35 as one person died while being hospitalized and three succumbed to their injuries in hospital.

"86 people were hospitalized, 94 received out-patient treatment," an emergencies ministry spokesman said.

"As of 23:00 Moscow time Monday [20:00 GMT], 128 people are listed as injured. 41 of them are in serious and critical condition," - Russian Health Minister Tatyana Golikova said, adding that the casualty figures are very likely to rise.

The health ministry published its preliminary list of injured early on Tuesday, in which 126 people were mentioned. One of them was identified as a French citizen.

Earlier reports said residents of Slovakia, Italy and France were injured in the blast. A British national was reported to be killed, but the information is currently being checked.
