Mosenergosbyt, a Moscow-based power sales company, plans to start selling electricity under so-called 'green contracts', Mosenergosbyt Managing Director Pyotr Sinyutin said on Tuesday.
Moscow and Moscow region residents and small businesses will soon be able to buy 'green energy', which is completely produced from renewable energy sources, he said.
"We are currently working out a legal and contractual scheme on supplies of such electricity, and will start offering such contracts to Moscow residents in the first quarter of 2011," Sinyutin said, adding that the company had carried out a poll, which showed that Moscow residents were ready to pay more for electricity produced by 'green generators'.
The company is currently closing contracts with 'green generators' in Moscow and the Moscow region, he said.
"Moreover, that contract scheme which has been worked out lets the consumers buy green energy directly from the 'green generators', while the company will just get a fee for that," Sinyutin said.
