Azerbaijan increased the production of arms and military equipment 260% in 2010, year-on-year, Defense Industry Minister Yaver Dzhamalov said on Friday.
Azerbaijan increased the production of arms and military equipment 260% in 2010, year-on-year, Defense Industry Minister Yaver Dzhamalov said on Friday.
He said production had gown 115 times since 2006, according to the Trend news agency.
During this time Azerbaijan has completely eliminated its dependence on ammunition supplies from other countries.
"We are currently working to end our dependence on armor," the minister said, adding that negotiations were in progress with Turkey's Otokar on the production of armored personnel carriers in the country.
