Nikolai Bordyuzha, the secretary general of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), begins on Saturday his three-day official visit to Armenia, the organization's press service said.

CSTO, a post-Soviet security bloc, comprises Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan.

Secretary General Bordyuzha is set to monitor preparations for the upcoming session of the Collective Security Council in early December.

"This is a regular visit held in line with preparations for the upcoming session of the CSTO Collective Security Council session in early December and for discussions on measures to implement earlier reached agreements," the press service said.

Bordyuzha is scheduled to hold meetings with Armenia's President Serzh Sargsyan, Foreign Minister Edvard Nabaldnyan, Defense Minister Seiran Oganyan and National Security Council Secretary Artur Bagdasaryan.

Armenia is currently holding a rotating chair in the CSTO and starting in December Belarus will take over the chairmanship.
