A Russian military delegation will arrive on Sunday to the NATO Defense College in Rome on a five-day exchange of education mission.

A Russian military delegation will arrive on Sunday to the NATO Defense College in Rome on a five-day exchange of education mission, the Defense Ministry said.

The delegation comprises the faculty members of the Russian General Staff Academy (GSA), who will lecture NATO cadets on current military reforms in Russia, and on regional and global security.

"On November 15-19, the GSA faculty members will give a series of lectures on a wide range of [military and security] issues," the ministry said in a statement on Saturday.

The first step in resetting Russia-NATO exchange of military training and education opportunities occurred in early October when NATO sent a Mobile Education and Training Team (METT) on a similar mission to the GSA in Moscow.

The Russia-NATO Council summit will be held on November 20 in Lisbon. Russian President Dmitry Medvedev is due to take part in the top-level gathering for the first time since the August 2008 war between Russia and Georgia, which soured Russia's relations with the alliance.

NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen earlier said the alliance hoped to work with Russia on a variety of issues, including the European missile defense.
