Three militants were killed in a police operation in Russia's volatile North Caucasus republic of Dagestan, a police source said on Saturday.
The number may rise as the operation in the town of Buinaksk is still underway, the source told RIA Novosti.
Earlier reports said the house in which the militants had holed up in was on fire.
Russia's National Anti-Terror Committee (NAK) said in October more than 300 militants had been killed in the troubled North Caucasus since the beginning of the year.
The Kremlin has vowed to clamp down on militant groups while stepping up efforts to boost the local economy.
