One person was killed early in Sunday when a ceiling collapsed in a gold mine in Russia's Far Eastern Magadan Region, a spokesman for the regional emergencies service said.
Seven miners, who also worked in the mine, managed to escape.
"The night shift of eight people was working in the mine. Doctors say seven miners are in satisfactory condition," the source said.
Works have been suspended at the mine. The accident is being investigated.
