Russia's S7 Airlines will buy up to eight Boeing and Airbus medium-haul aircraft in 2011, CEO Vladimir Obyedkov said on Tuesday.

Russia's S7 Airlines will buy up to eight Boeing and Airbus medium-haul aircraft in 2011, CEO Vladimir Obyedkov said on Tuesday.

"If the shareholders permit it, we will buy seven or eight planes," Obyedkov told journalists.

The Boeing 737-800 planes will be for the firm's subsidiary, Globus Airlines, while Airbus-À320s will join S7's fleet.

S7 is Russia's biggest domestic air carrier, and is the only Russian airline permitted to run regular flights between Moscow and Tbilisi. Globus runs international charter flights.

Russian airlines are phasing out Russian- or Soviet-made aircraft to replace them with more modern planes a part of a larger bid to modernize their fleet.
