Several hundred centenarians live in the Russian capital, the acting first deputy mayor said Tuesday.
"About 500 people above 100 years old live in Moscow, and this is our city's joy. The average life expectancy is increasing," Lyudmila Shvetsova said.
She said when the city residents turn 100, the city grants each of them 25,000 rubles ($832), and then 10,000 rubles ($333) annually.
"The money is not very great, but it's a sign of consideration for these people," Shvetsova said.
