Germany's engineering giant Siemens is negotiating with Russian power supplier INTER RAO UES on power engineering cooperation, Siemens Vice President Dietrich Meller said on Tuesday.

"INTER RAO UES is a very interesting company. INTER RAO UES' plans are very ambitious, and we are in cooperation talks with it. We are talking, in part, about energy engineering," Meller said.

The prospect of becoming a strategic supplier to INTER RAO UES was attractive for Siemens, Meller said. The company is also considering production of modern turbines in Russia, he said without elaborating.

Meller said Siemens was continuing negotiations with Russia's Mosenergo, the largest heat and power plant in Europe, on power cooperation, adding that in 2008 the firms had signed an agreement on four energy equipment sets.

"Negotiations on two sets are continuing, we are looking for a solution," he said.
