Three people injured in the September 9 terrorist act in Vladikavkaz were rushed to the Moscow-based Vishnevsky Surgery Institute. In all, an Emergencies Ministry plane transported 11 patients to Moscow.

Andrei Fyodorov, deputy director of the Vishnevsky Institute, said all patients were in very serious condition and could get worse at anytime. All were taken to the institute’s intensive-care unit. Doctors decline to make any predictions regarding their health, but expect them to remain hospitalized for a long time.

A suicide bomber driving a Volga detonated an explosive device equivalent to 30-40 kilograms of TNT at the entrance to the central market in Vladikavkaz, the capital of North Ossetia, a republic in the North Caucasus, Thursday morning. Seventeen people were killed, and another 138 wounded. In all, 110 people are currently being treated at hospitals.
