A park and a street will be named after сurrent Chechen President Ramzan Kadyrov and his father Akhmat in Jordan's capital Amman by yearend, the mayor of Chechen capital Grozny said on Thursday.

Grozny will also name a street and a park after the current King of Jordan Abdullah II bin al-Hussein and his father, Muslim Khuchiyev said.

Khuchiyev gave the news in a statement on Thursday following a three-day visit by a Jordanian delegation to Grozny. The delegation, headed by Amman's mayor, came to Grozny on August 2 to improve ties with Chechnya.

"We have old-established good relations with the people of Jordan and we want to strengthen these ties," Khutchiev said "The decision...to name a park and a street after Akhmat Kadyrov and Ramzan Kadyrov shows the high levels of respect held for these people, not only in Russia but also abroad."

Jordan has historic links with the mainly-Muslim southern Russian republic of Chechnya. Chechens first came to modern-day Jordan in the late 19th Century, when they were forced to flee Russia's expansion to the Caucasus regions.
