First International sports forum: Russia is a Sports Power

The Russia is a Sports Power international sports forum, timed to coincide with the 30th anniversary of the 1980 Moscow Summer Olympics, opened in Moscow on July 29. The Luzhniki Olympic complex still hosts the most prominent current sporting events.

Conferences, sporting performances, competitions and exhibitions are all on the agenda of the forum. Around 4,000 people will attend the forum, including senior Russian and foreign officials.

The exhibition aims to promote sharing experiences and present promising projects in the sports industry, including innovations in science, medicine, food, technology and architecture, and the construction of sports facilities and equipment.

The Second International Festival of Sports Movies was opened at the Druzhba stadium on July 29 as part of the forum. The festival aims to promote sports and a healthy way of life and encourage the development of sports feature and documentary movies.

The models of modern sports facilities many of which are being constructed within the framework of a Federal target program were shown at the exposition.

Historical exhibits are also on display. The head of the Ministry of Sports, Tourism and Youth Policy did not miss the chance to test the old press machine from the era of the famous Russian wrestler, Ivan Poddubny.
