Two servicemen were killed and another injured in an attack in Russia's North Caucasus republic of Chechnya, a police spokesperson said on Saturday.
Unidentified gunmen opened fire on a group of servicemen guarding a military convoy near the Chechen capital of Grozny on Friday.
"Two servicemen have died from wounds, and another has been hospitalized," the spokesman said.
Russia's North Caucasus, which includes the volatile republics of Chechnya, Dagestan and Ingushetia, sees frequent attacks by militants on police, federal troops and officials.
