Finland will back Russia's bid to scrap the visa regime with the European Union, Finnish President Tarja Halonen said on Wednesday.
"We are doing all we can and will continue to do so for the introduction of a visa-free regime," Halonen said at a news conference after talks with Russian President Dmitry Medvedev.
Medvedev said earlier this month "the time was ripe" for a visa-free regime between Russia and the EU. "It is the spirit of the time," he said.
A draft of the agreement on scrapping the visa regime was handed over to the EU at the Russia-EU summit in Rostov-on-Don on May 31-June 1.
