The garden, The Taming of the Shrew, is based on a comedy written during the outbreak of the plague in London, when theaters were closed and Shakespeare visited his friend the Earl of Southampton, who lived on the Isle of Wight , south England, to avoid the plague.

The garden, A Midsummer Night's Dream, was made of plants creating the atmosphere of lightness and evanescence. Some plants of the gardens are mentioned in the text of the play. The garden’s grass hides the figures of forest spirits. They use their magic to meddle in the life of four characters who are in love.

The garden, The Merchant of Venice, is made of secondary raw materials including the pillars with water level marks during floods in Venice. At the center of the garden are three boats which float upon the waves of flourishing decorative grains. The flowers in each gondola serving as flowerbeds are colored in gold, silver and lead, the materials of boxes which the character of the play has to choose to marry a rich woman.

The garden, Much Ado About Nothing, is created like an Italian garden and the water reservoir in its center symbolizes this very “nothing.” Yellow roses depict jealousy, Rose Margaret Merrill is reminiscent of the servant Margaret, the cypresses and a torch hidden among them embody the night watches, while Rose William Shakespeare is observing the scene.

Near Shakespeare’s gardens there is an exhibition of garden scarecrows, made by British schoolchildren. Children were creative when trying to depict Titania, the Queen of the Fairies from A Midsummer Night's Dream and her servant.
