Germany won the 2010 World Cup in South Africa playoff game for the third place against Uruguay 3:2 scoring the wining goal with only eight minutes of the match remaining.

Both sides wanted to finish the World Cup on a winning note and the first half of the match under a heavy rain in Port Elizabeth ended 1:1 after Germany's Thomas Muller and Uruguay's Edinson Cavani traded goals.

With ten minutes of the second half played Uruguay's Diego Forlan scored another for his team, but the goal was shortly answered by Germany's Marcell Jansen.

The teams seemed to finish the main time of the match at the 2:2 draw but Germany's Sami Khedira netted the winner on the 82nd minute to earn his country fourth bronze of the World Cup series.

The 2010 World Cup winner will be determined on Sunday night between two European teams, Spain and the Netherlands, which both never previously won the world championship.
