Fifty Russian BTR-70 armored personnel carriers (APC) destined for the Palestinian National Authority have been delivered to Jordan, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Saltanov said on Thursday.

Fifty Russian BTR-70 armored personnel carriers (APC) destined for the Palestinian National Authority have been delivered to Jordan, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Saltanov said on Thursday.

"We can say the issue is solved since the hardware we pledged to deliver to the PNA has already arrived in Jordan," Saltanov said, adding that the issue of how to hand over the vehicles from Jordan to the PNA would soon be regulated.

He did not specify the terms of delivering the equipment.

Saltanov said there was no weaponry provided with the armored vehicles.

Israel agreed in 2008 on the supply of Russian APCs stripped of weaponry to the PNA to help them fight terrorist organizations.

Last week, Foreign Ministry spokesman Andrei Nesterenko said Russia would continue to provide assistance to the Palestinians by delivering to Jordan 50 APCs that later would be transferred to the PNA in the West Bank.

Russia is donating the APCs to the PNA.
